Emergency Dental Service

A dental emergency is any oral health issue that requires immediate attention in order to save a tooth, stop persistent tissue bleeding, or relieve significant pain. A broken tooth, bleeding gums, or persistent toothache are all examples of dental emergencies. At Magic Smiles in Plainfield, Dr. Sharma specializes in prompt and reliable, in-office urgent care services that support the immediate health and wellness needs of our patients.

We Offer Urgent Care for These Dental Emergencies

Magic Smiles is equipped to treat these dental emergencies:

Loose Bridges – Unless you’re in great pain, a loose bridge is generally not considered an emergency situation. But you should make a dental appointment with Dr. Sharma as soon as possible, because the situation will only get worse.

Loose Crowns – If you have lost the crown, you can coat the tooth surface with an over- the-counter dental cement (available at many pharmacies) to temporarily seal the area until one of our dentists can repair it. Whether your crown is loose or lost, call our office as soon as possible.

Loose Fillings – A loose or lost filling is rarely an emergency. However, it can be painful because the exposed tooth tissue is often sensitive to temperature, pressure, or air. If you lose a filling, put it in a safe place and make an appointment in our office as soon as you can.

Broken or Chipped Teeth – Fixing a chipped tooth depends on how much of the tooth has broken off. Usually, a chipped tooth isn’t an emergency and can be corrected with dental bonding. This means that the dentist will apply a strong, tooth-colored material to it to restore the tooth’s shape.

Soft Tissue Damage and Gum Bleeding – In most cases, bleeding gums indicate a form of gum disease, which is an emergency our dentists can help treat. They will likely perform a deep dental cleaning or scaling and root planing procedure to help remove any infection within the gums. Additionally, an oral rinse may be prescribed to help reduce inflammation and infection.

Loose or Knocked-Out Teeth – Knocking out or loosening a tooth is a medical emergency. If an adult tooth is knocked out, try putting it back in place and contact our office immediately. Don’t try to re-insert a baby tooth – bring your child to one of our dentists immediately. If you can’t put an adult tooth back into position, place it in milk and contact our dental health clinic.

Tooth Abscesses – As a more serious dental emergency, a tooth abscess may require immediate root canal therapy by Dr. Sharma. This involves drilling into the affected tooth to drain the abscess and remove any infected tissue. Go immediately to the nearest emergency

department if you have an abscessed tooth accompanied by a high fever.

Toothaches –  One of the most common reasons for a bad toothache is severe decay or an infection. To resolve this issue, our dentist may need to perform a root canal. After they finish the procedure, you will begin to feel significantly better than when you first came in. Sometimes, it is also necessary to restore the tooth with a dental filling or crown, a process that can be done during the same visit or a follow-up appointment.

Cracked Teeth – Having a piece of a tooth break off and fall out is certainly startling. And if there is pain or blood involved, it is definitely considered a dental emergency. Even if it doesn’t hurt or bleed, a cracked tooth or chipped tooth should be seen by one of our dentists. However, the amount of urgency depends on the type and severity of the problem.

The staff is genuinely friendly. Nicole, with whom I had first contact when I made my appointment, and Heather, the dental assistant were both extremely welcoming. Dr. Sharma is so kind and attentive. He communicated with me during the proceedure and put me at ease. He was also patient when numbing my mouth; making sure that I was comfortable before he continued. He called me after my visit to check and find out if I had any questions. When I called the office with a minor concern days after my visit, I received a prompt reply. I am so grateful for the doctor and his staff. I recommend his practice for everyone.

Can not express the amount of CARE and SYMPATHY Dr. Puri gave me without ever seeing me before. I suffered for 8 day under a different dentist. She was BOOKED but said to me, "I can not let someone suffer in pain like you are". I was like a 5 year old with tears and fears. She brushed my head and placed ice on my forehead. Communicated all steps before hand. THAT IS WHAT WE NEED IN A DENTIST. 18 MILLION STARS

My wife and I are here in Illinois visiting old friends. Been having an issue with my teeth and gums. I knew of the problem but was unable to get it taken care of before leaving home in New Mexico. My problem worsened. A friend recommended Dr. Jyoti Puri. I was able to get in due to a cancellation. Staff was great in helping me get my records from New Mexico. Everyone from start to finish was exceptional. My dental issue was worse than I thought. Dr. Puri explained clearly in terms I could understand and presented me with some options. Her care and skills made my procedure as painless as possible. Her surgical assistants Michelle and Griselda also were great with x rays and assisting in the procedure. 5 STARS PLUS! HIGHLY RECCOMMEND
